What Is Idiopathic Scoliosis?
Idiopathic scoliosis is scoliosis without a known specific cause. It is commonly identified during the growing years, particularly around adolescence.
Some signs parents may notice include:
– Uneven shoulders
– One shoulder blade appearing more prominent
– Uneven hips
– Clothes appearing to hang unevenly
– One side of the back looking higher when bending forward
– Changes in posture
These signs do not automatically mean a child has scoliosis. A healthcare professional should make the diagnosis.
