What Are the Suboccipital Muscles?
The suboccipital muscles sit beneath the back of the skull. They help control head and upper-neck movement and maintain head position.
When these muscles remain active for long periods, they can become tense or fatigued. Consequently, some people may experience:
– Upper-neck stiffness
– Tenderness near the base of the skull
– Reduced neck mobility
– Muscle-related head and neck discomfort
